Dungeon & Lore?


Dungeon & Lore?


So as for any project modding World of Warcraft (or pretty much any game, even your own game), you need to have a story. Like, how do things relate to eachother? Why are you playing in this zone. Why are you killing these mobs?


Well 'The Underhold' Obviously (Not sure if it's actually obvious, but to me it is), also has a story, a lore.

The Siege of Orgrimmar failed, the heroes fell under the power of Hellscream. Armies of the Alliance, and the Horde kept pushing the brigade. The Gates of Orgrimmar fell, but the underhold stood it's last stance. The Alliance and Horde reached the very chamber of Garrosh Hellscream, engaged a fight, but Garrosh Hellscream has grown too powerful. He drank the blood of the old god, dispensed immense power.

The armies fell, Garrosh was victorious. A lot of orc blood was spilled, but Garrosh cared little. He had the plans of reconstructing Azeroth, Eradicating all alliance members. Not to mention the 'betrayers' of the Horde. However, one day, Garrosh Hellscream started saying weird quotes, such as "You will answer to the dark one...". He said such things out random, and the Kor'kron commanders questioned it. However, they also became corrupt. It was the corruption of the very hearth he drank the blood from. The Old God still lives. And has been spreading his fungus to near inhabitants of it's parasites.

One day, Garrosh Hellscream had been crossing the seas to Eastern Kingdoms, and deployed ships and war zeppelins at the shores of Westfall and Stormwind. He invaded Stormwind, took over the castle, and hang all the faction leaders on pikes, near the docks. His vision had become a reality. He had conquered the world!

But wait, the corruption of which had been growing in the warchiefs blood, had started taking over his mind. When he embraced the power of corruption, he could control it. Now he is unable to control it, and it is starting to control his mind. He's slowly growing, his body gets embraced in the purple sludge, it sticks to the ground, and kneels Garrosh down. "You shalt kneel to your master, naive orc. Did you really think all this power was given without a cost? You were merely a tool for me, and I do have a reward to you, for such hard work. You conquered the world, and now you shall rest in peace...", a voice whispered to Garrosh. His body grew, sludge grew into pimples, which exploded and spread even more sludge around the citadel of Stormwind.

Growing immensely in size, Garrosh' body exploded in a massive blast, which covered the entire eastern kingdoms in purple sludge, corrupting the lands of Azeroth. The sludge infected all living races, and as they fled from it, they spread it to Northrend, Pandaria and Kalimdor. The lands of Azeroth are now infected with faceless ones, and the old gods have returned, C'Thun, Yogg Saron, Y'Sarrj, N'Zoth and iso'rath.

However, luckily for the Azerothians, some Original Horde, and some of The Alliance fled on boats, boats of which just sailed for days, even weeks. A lot of the people who fled, died to starvation, and the corpses were eaten by the remaining(for the horde side, not alliance, they were more civilized).
This turned the orcs into their feral kind, however, the boats eventually reached an island. An island of which tales has been told about, Sorangar was the name of the island...


And the rest of the tale is being told on the content that is included in 'The Underhold'.


Dungeons???

So ofcourse there are dungeons, now since last night, i've only managed to draw out 1 dungeon to make in Blender.

Now, when I get a computer of which can handle the rendering etc, I will start building the content, and post screenshots, but untill then you'll have to survive my walls of text. All the dungeons and raids will be 100% CUSTOM. This means, custom bosses, custom instance designs, custom doodads. Which is the most custom part of this project, doodads for the open world will not be as custom, as I am currently just 1 person, and I already overdid myself with the task (giving myself 6 months to finish the world map)

Initiating Operation 'The Underhold'

Hello and welcome to my new blog! In this blog I will be documenting EVERYTHING in this awesome project!

The project is currently small, yet packed with interesting stuff for you guys to follow. I am making a continent for World of Warcraft, engine 3.3.5, including a few if not a lot of custom objects, textures, and a completely new continent designed from scratch.

Everytime I do a zone or a map for any kind of game mod, or just for a picture setting, I always do a layout of the map.

In this case i've skipped the process for you guys, to make this post waaaaaay shorter. But let me give you a heads up as to how the process went.

First I drew the concept on a piece of paper.











Then I put it into photoshop and draw it.











Then I add the neccesary details for me to go for while building the terrain, the numbers are ID's for a spreadsheet that I use in order to contain city names & information about them, the big numbers are ID's for zone ID's. I also include the scaling (Each square = 1 ADT, 1 ADT = a terrain file in the World of Warcraft Engine). the green areas represent forest, the brown-ish untextured areas are defined in the ID's. the dots are cities, size of dots represents the scale of cities, I usually go with scales like this (from smallest to largest):

Camp
Village
Town
City
Capital














Anyway, this is about it for what I have completed at this stage, I am constantly writing down ideas and drawing concepts for what to add to the project.

Ofcourse I am interested in feedback, and/or if someone who has knowledge in WoW Modding wants to come aboard the project.
